Sunshine Tours Bus and Couch Operator took delivery of special Scania
Sunshine Tours a local bus and coach operator, owned and managed by Mr. Christoffel Greyling, recently took delivery of a rather special Scania.
The vehicle being a custom-built bus is a Scania F94 front engine chassis fitted with a Brazilian build body from CAIO. The unit was built to meet specific operational conditions according to the requirements of Mr. Greyling.
Custom building is a process that in the bus market takes a couple of months to complete, especially as each customer can decide themselves on the details and specifications of their vehicles.
Sunshine Tours is contracted to perform all staff transport for the Langer Heinrich Uranium Mine and also for Karibib Mining The vehicle is going to operate in severe conditions, traveling to the mine is only by gravel road, where dust, wind and high variances in temperatures are known in these parts of the Namib Desert.
The Scania F chassis is ideal for on-off road operations and the Sunshine unit is fitted with a 310hp engine. The CAIO body is the first of its kind in Namibia and is fitted with an air-conditioning system and all 44 passenger seats are luxury re-clining with three (3) point integrated seat-belts for passenger safety. Sunshine Tours together with Langer Heinrich Uranium Mine now becomes the second mine in Namibia to operate with Scania busses.
Winston Greyling (picture left) is responsible for Sunshine Tours operations from Swakopmund and was very pleased when their new SCANIA was delivered.
